Live from our man in Torridon

I'm sitting by a driftwood fire, miles from the nearest people, thirty feet from the sea, my tent pitched on the dunes behind me. I'm drinking red wine from the bottle (hey, if I can be bothered to carry it...) with two dogs curled up a few feet away (they did 22 miles yesterday, and spent most of today in the sea) and I haven't seen so many stars above me in a decade. The lighthouses on the Hebrides are glowing across the Minch, and, for now, all is well with the world. N.B. The Blackberry does not necessarily enhance one's sense of isolation.

Sounds positively peaceful, my friend. I had a similar experience a couple of weeks back in Pitlochry. I didn't have the same sense of isolation that you are currently enjoying, but the sense of tranquility and being cut off from the usual trappings of day to day life. However, having your iPhone connected to your work e-mail system is never a good idea unless you can learn to ignore it.

Enjoy the rest of your hols, and we'll need to catch up with a lunch outing when you're next back in the office.

"I'm sitting by a driftwood fire, miles from the nearest people, thirty feet from the sea, my tent pitched on the dunes behind me." AND I'M BLOGGING.
What a joker.

Erm, if you are commenting on the practicalities, it's a Blackberry. If you're commenting on the juxtaposition of technology and tranquil surroundings... well, I'd rather blog from a beach than a desk, anyday.

Discovered your blog after many weeks of not seeing you around on msn

I remember us talking about the fact that we were both in the vicinity of Torridon together

The western highlands certainly had the best weather of the summer, but I must say that we have had a great sunny weekend in London - Averil, Tash, Fiona, Kristine and I went off to Brighton for the day yesterday and even walked on the pier

it was good to see you in Edinburgh - hope to see you soon again

what's up with msn? can't find you on there at the mo?
